Experience GDR History Up Close
For 40 years, Germany had two states. A wall is built that divides families and has far-reaching consequences for life and work on both sides. Two political directions and different ways of life develop. The GDR Time Travel gives you an unprecedented insight into everyday life and revolt.
The time after the end of the war
After the end of the war, life in the GDR was marked by the consequences of the Second World War. Reconstruction demanded great effort, while political changes affected everyday life. With the help of virtual reality, you can experience the everyday life of citizens in the years leading up to the fall of the Berlin Wall up close and personal and be present at the most important events.
Relive the history of the fall of the Berlin Wall virtually
With our time travel you will experience the popular uprising on June 17, 1953, military parades and stirring protest movements. But the highlight: in 1989 the Berlin Wall falls! Together with East and West Germans as well as international stars, you will celebrate this historic moment that changed the world. Immerse yourself in the moving history that continues to shape us today!
Note: The GDR-themed time travel experience takes place outside in front of the Senseum—so please be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring an umbrella if necessary.
In addition to the journey through time to the prince’s wedding in 1719, other virtual excursions into Dresden’s history await you. Whether with our VR city tours or the intensive reels on German and GDR history.
